Knowle West Alliance Small Grants Autumn 2026 is open!

Our grants programme is supported by Bristol City Council and RCKa Architects, who have supported the grants programme as part of their work on the redevelopment of Filwood Broadway.
Individuals, groups and organisations can apply for up to £500. There is £4,000 available in this round.

Small Grants panel
Small grants will still be decided by a panel of local residents. Our aim is that the panel will meet in the week beginning 2nd of November, applicants will be notified as soon as possible after the panel has made their decisions.
Once a decision has been made, you will receive the funding within two to four weeks into the bank account you have provided us with.
Note and important change
If you are successful, you will receive 90% of funding, as soon as possible after panel decision has been made and once we have received bank details. The remaining 10% will be paid on completion of a short evaluation at the end of the project.
Why are we doing the 90/10 payment process?
We want to encourage evaluation. Evaluation and feedback is important, it shows the funders how money was spent, it encourages them to fund again, and it encourages new funders to come forward. To ensure evaluation, we are now including this additional step. We are happy to answer questions about this, please get in touch.
How to apply
Via online form you can find *** here *** Share as much information as you can as this helps the panel make their decision.
You can fill out the form on a phone, desktop computer, laptop computer, or tablet.
If you need a paper copy please get in touch via email grants@kwalliance.co.uk or call into Knowle West Media Centre Tuesday to Friday and ask for Gail.
When you apply, you will need to provide your bank details. This must be the details of a bank account that belongs to an organisation with at least two signatories, if this is difficult for you, please get in touch grants@kwalliance.co.uk
On the form, answer all the questions and share as much information as you can within the word limit (250 words). This helps the panel make their decisions.
A reminder not to start your project before you’ve applied and a decision has been made. We do not fund work that has already been done.
What can I apply for?
You can apply for up to £500. Your project must meet one of the following criteria:
Safer, friendlier Knowle West
Cleaner, greener Knowle West
Creative Knowle West Active
Healthy Knowle West – this can be activity or food project
Your project must be in the Knowle West regeneration area (see map here) and application must be received by 30th October 2026.
We would particularly like to see some ideas related to food. Bringing people together for food. Seasonal celebrations. Sharing food. Growing food.
How previous Grants have been spent
Vince (pictured above) is a Knowle West resident who loves walking; he recently published a book of six local walks. The printing of the book was made possible by various organisations one of them being a Knowle West Alliance Small Grant of £250. Knowle West walks is available to buy at Knowle West Media Centre for just £2.00.
Mendip Broadwalk Football Club Under 10s Girls Team applied for £200 to help cover essential training equipment including balls and pitch fees. As a grassroots youth football team, they rely heavily on volunteers and modest family contributions to operate. Rising hire charges and equipment expenses mean that without additional support, participation costs risk increasing for families. This grant will ensure the team can continue to provide affordable, high-quality football opportunities for young girls in the local area.
Filwood Hope received £500 to support families and individuals in financial crisis. Filwood Hope provide items from their own food stock and food vouchers to ensure people to have meals until they can get to a food bank. They specifically wanted support for the period May to September to help with the financial burden of the school holidays and to be able to offer a mix of food vouchers giving people choice and food stock (tinned and dried food).
The weekly Warm Welcome Space at St Barnabas is attended by local residents and open to anyone from the local community. Some of those attending suggested they would like food options to encourage a healthier lifestyle. St Barnabas applied for funding for fruit, which is offered to that group and any left-over is made available on Sunday mornings.
