We are pleased to announce our small grants programme is up and running again, with an exciting new £1000 community arts grant in partnership with RCKa Architects.
Thank you, Knowle West, for you patience as we did some important work suring up our small grants programme. We’ve changed the way we do things a bit, plus we’ve secured new partnership funding for some specific projects. Please read on to find out how you can apply for £250 for your local project, or £1000 for community arts!
Small grants application and decision making process
Small grants will still be decided by a panel of local residents. This panel will now meet four times a year, in November, February, May and September, to decide the outcome of small grants applications and any other grant programmes we are running in partnership with other organisations.
We will publish meeting dates in advance on the small grants page of the KWA website, and the deadline for application will be one week before the meeting date.
Please do not start your project before we have made a decision. We can no longer fund projects retrospectively.
Once a decision has been made you will receive the funding within two to four weeks into the bank account you have provided us with.
The next panel will meet at the end of November, so all applications need to be in by 24th November – more on that below.
Want to be on the panel? Please email grants@kwalliance.co.uk to find out more information.
How to apply
We have a new online form you can find *** here ***
Please do not print the form, we will not be accepting paper copies. You can fill the form in on a phone, desktop computer, laptop computer, or tablet. If you need some help, please drop in to KWMC and see Gail at the front desk, or email grants@kwalliance.co.uk
When you apply, you will need to provide your bank details. This must be the details of a bank account that belongs to an organisation with at least two signatories.
We cannot pay money into a private bank account.
If you’re an individual, or a small group that doesn’t have its own bank account, and you’re struggling to find a partner organisation, please email grants@kwalliance.co.uk and we can help you.
Just a reminder not to start your project before you’ve applied and a decision has been made. We can no longer fund work that has already been done.
What can I apply for?
The new small grants programme is offering eight grants of up to £250 in the current round, and your project must meet one of the following criteria:
- Safer, friendlier Knowle West
- Cleaner, greener Knowle West
- Creative Knowle West
- Active and healthy Knowle West
Your project must be in the Knowle West regeneration area. We will ask details about what you want to do, and how the money will be spent. We will ask you when you expect your project to be complete.
If you are successful, we will ask you to send us a photo of the project and short paragraph, or a short video, and these will go on our social media and website so please make sure you have permission from the people in the photo or video.
That’s all there is to it! The next round is open now, and closes 24th November so get those applications in!
Community Arts grant with RCKa Architects
Huge thanks to RCKa Architects, and Bristol City Council, for supporting a new, one-off community arts grant to help us re-launch this programme. We are offering four grants of up to £1000 each for arts projects in Knowle West that have some form of community engagement.
You can apply using the same form as small grants – click the ‘Community Arts Grant’ option when asked.
For this grant, we can only accept applications from an organisation or group. If you’re a local artist with a great idea, we encourage you to approach another local organisation to apply jointly.
We can’t wait to read all the amazing applications! Please email grants@kwalliance.co.uk if you have any questions
