The last few months have been an evolving one for Knowle West Alliance, most significantly we were delighted to announce that we secured National Lottery Reaching Communities Funding for the next 3 years. This funding will support KWA to continue working alongside the community towards our shared vision; for Knowle West to be a place where everyone wants to be; where residents are healthy, happy, well connected and the area is green, prosperous and fun. A place people are proud to call home.
Since the launch, in 2019, Knowle West Alliance has evolved with the community of Knowle West. It has been a journey of development, through changing times, with much to celebrate and much that has been learnt. Over the last year there have been staff changes with Lucy, Frances, Hannah and Lewis taking opportunities outside of KWA. They all made significant contributions to bring Knowle West Alliance to the place it is now.
In November last year Jai Breitnauer joined KWA as the Community Development manager, at the end of September we shared that, due to health reasons, Jai stepped back from her role. The Alliance would like to thank Jai for her significant work in securing National Lottery Funding and wish her well. In the interim she will help get the small grants programme up and running, before stepping away to pursue other opportunities.
What remains consistent is the KWA founders and KWA Working Group who will be working together with the community to support the next exciting chapter for KWA. Gemma continues to work on Planning and Development, The Knowledge, the community website, KWA social media and other aspects of the work of the Alliance, where needed.
Securing funding is the opening pages of this next chapter for the Alliance. It is also a moment to pause, celebrate and learn from the past before moving forwards in the way Knowle West Alliance always has, with community voices and influence at the heart.
We would like to thank the National Lottery Community Fund and National Lottery players who help to make projects and initiatives like KWA possible.
