Food Network – we’re back!

By Jai Breitnauer

After a hiatus of almost a year, it was great to get the Food Network back together at The Park Centre on Wednesday 25th June.

The brief was to bring an item of food to share and our team didn’t disappoint. We had a lovely morning tea made up of fruit, Indian snacks and of course, a few biscuits with a nice brew.

As it has been a while since we met, and because KWA Community Development Manager Jai is still new, we spent some time sharing a bit of information about ourselves, our organisations and updates on local projects.

Mike from Redcatch Community Garden share a particularly interesting update about their Shaping Places project and what might happen next. You can read more about that here.

We also heard from local residents and volunteers Mal, Mark and John about the recent Bring Your Culture to the Table event at St Barnabas Church as part of the Refugee Festival – check out the next edition of The Knowledge for a full write up plus pics.

The Food Network talked about our shared priorities and areas where our organisations work overlaps, such as access to healthy and affordable food for the local community, sharing cooking skills and recipes, and supporting young people to engage with fresh produce in a fun way.

Our next meeting will be in the autumn – would you like to come along? Email info@kwalliance.co.uk to find out more.
