COMMUNITY CHAMPION

NEW VOLUNTEER ROLE FOR KNOWLE WEST

Are you connected in to your local community?

Do you have ideas about how to reach people who may be isolated, lonely or don’t necessarily feel part of the community?

Then, we’re looking for you!

The role:

• 6 months (May – October 2022) with the possibility of continuing if that suits you

• Flexible with no fixed hours, to fit in around your commitments and with what you do already

• No formal experience or qualifications needed, just a passion for community and making connections

• Talking to local people within your community to find out what they want and need to make more connections and improve their health/wellbeing

• Signposting and connecting people to what’s going on locally, and maybe running your own get-togethers/events (with help if you want it)

• Occasional sharing of Public Health messaging (including vaccination) as and when required

• Attending a minimum of 3 meet-ups with the Knowle West Alliance and Bristol City Council Community Development workers and the other Community Champions within the 6-month period

What’s in it for you?

• A chance to share ideas and take action for better community connection, and make a difference to your neighbourhood

• Support and resources available for your ideas from the Knowle West Alliance and Bristol City Council Community Development workers

• Access to a Community Champions budget for activities related to your role

• Optional range of free training opportunities

• Experience and skills for your CV
