Groups, schools and organisations – how to get involved with the Knowle West Alliance

The Knowle West Alliance is a collaborative partnership of active and connected local residents, businesses and organisations building and supporting positive action in Knowle West.

Why join the Knowle West Alliance?

  • Because your group, school or organisation wants the best for Knowle West
  • Because together we are stronger; together we can make the changes we want to see

Groups, schools and organisations – types of involvement:

  • Join our active Facebook group @KWAlliance
  • We are developing a website that will share useful information
  • We are developing an e:newsletter
  • We will be using local notice boards to share the e:newsletter
  • We will print the e:newsletter and copies will be available at local centres

Small Grants: We award grants of up to £100 for good ideas that make a difference to our area and we are also working with Filwood Community Centre who have some grants of up to £500 for positive creative projects in KW. LINK TO SMALL GRANTS INFO PAGE

Become an Associate Member of KWA: This is a commitment to celebrating what is great in Knowle West and working together to achieve positive action when needed. This membership doesn’t require regular meetings but it acknowledges the potential of coming together around opportunities or challenges as they arise and building a collective voice and influence for the area.

To become an Associate Member your group agrees to uphold the KWA Values, support good communication and contribute ideas and connections along the way.  To become an Associate, contact the Alliance Coordinator: lucy.holburn@kwalliance.co.uk

Join KWA’s Working Group: If your organisation is working for the benefit of Knowle West you are welcome to join the Alliance Working Group.  We are looking for memebers who are committed to making good things happen.  The group meets monthly and includes residents, groups, organisations and businesses.  To join the Working Group: Contact the Alliance Coordinator.  You will be invited to shadow a meeting and bring along a resident that you work with if you are not a resident yourself.  This an opportunity to see if the Working Group is for you and your group/organisation.  Following that, to become a Member of the Working Group we’d ask that your group/org agree to respect the Alliance Values, commit to being active participants, support wider communication work and aim to regularly attending meetings, at least half of the annual calendar of monthly meetings and ideally all of them.

Founder Organisations:  This group meets quarterly and is responsible for holding the vision and purpose of the Knowle West Alliance.  To join the Founder Organisations a commitment to the work of KWA should be demonstrated by being active members of the Working Group for a minimum of one year.  A request to join can be made, and the Chief Exec or most senior decision making person from the applying organisation would be invited to attend a Founder Organisation meeting to discuss the partnership.  The Partnership Agreement document must be agreed and signed by the applying organisations Chair of the Board of Trustees or Governing Body.
